Rats in Tadley!!! Good Afternoon I have just seen a huge rat climb a tree next to my conservatory and eat the birds nuts. Luckily I managed to get a phone picture which I am sending to you. Rats on the ground are bad enough but climbing trees? I have reported this to Tadley Council and thought I would also pass it on to the Tadley Roundabout. I understand there have been other sighting in the area and wonder if any action is being taken. Kind Regards Mrs S Monger, Whitedown Road
Help - what should we do?? Have you have sightings of rats in your garden? Please let us know and we can help pass the information on! email:

TWO SIGHTINGS: 1st April 2008: Just to let you know we have seen rats eating bird feed in our garden (Forest Close). We have had to remove the bird seeds. Susan from Forest Close, Baughurst. 2nd April 2008: Hi Barbara, we too have seen a huge rat in the back garden and yes, it is very big! We have also had mice in our garden but I guess that is not unusual! Let me know what to do about it! Regards Beverley from Silchester. Any suggestions for Beverley?? let us know and we'll get it posted onto the site. 6th April 2008: Hi Barbara, I don't know if this helps at all. Several years ago, we had problems with Rats in Stephens Road, they were in our garden, and also managed to get under the downstairs floorboards! (apparently Rats can get into holes that are as small as the diameter of a biro pen!) We called in Environmental Health at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, who came out, and after assessing put down bait for the rats. This bait was such that the rats would take it back to the nest and 'deal' with them from there.
Unfortunately, there was no quick solution, and we later found out that there were many houses along Stephens Road affected.
I would suggest that people contact the EHO at BDBC for advice.
